Mohini Dance Team was founded in 2006 by a group of girls who loved to dance and wanted to perform at the local Indian Students Association talent show held every Spring. Although considered the "underdog" that year, they managed to win second place in the competitive dance category. They also applied and got selected to compete in the Festival of India--an annual festival which rotates throughout major cities in Texas.

After a successful year of competing and working together, these original founders decided to continue Mohini and establish it as an official Bollywood team at the University of Texas. Since then, Mohini Dance Team became the first official Bollywood all girls troupe at UT and even in Texas.

In its third year and several awards later, Mohini has adopted 6 new girls so far, each one of them carrying the characteristics and qualities that we look for in excellent dancers.
